Touristic route around historical places of Zhongarsky Alatau.

Transport part of the route runs on the car road to the town Sarkand – village Lepsinsk at the foot of Zhelisai in south-east direction. The object to visit is the valley of the rivers Small Baskan, Big Baskan. From start of the route to the village Lepsinsk, tourists can see picturesque landscape of fir-tree forests. There is also a panoramic view of glaciers and underlying valley. In this route, you can see rock carvings, the Petroglyphs, dating back to the early Iron Era. The amazing waterfall on the river Small Baskan, magnificent cascades of rapids, with small elevations differences. Picturesque mountain landscape, rows of fir-trees on the rocks, various trees.

In gorges Utepsai and Zhamansai, one can admire the panorama of grand and lofty mountains and glaciers. Holy place Auliye Tas will touch everyone’s feelings. Location of this stone is amazing, surrounded by lush vegetation of different types and suddenly you see the stone wall of unusual shape. There are two proved routes to approach this Holy Stone. After the tourists see the places of archeological excavations, they can go to the burial ground Uigentas in the stow Uigentas, dating back to the early Iron Era – the early Middle Ages (Old Turkic period), archeological excavations at the river Lepsy. The burial ground includes over 150 burial places on the first river bench of Tentek, and takes the limited area of 500х1,000 m. Monument shows the Russian planning methods applied. They can see the stone sculptures, so called “Balbyk”. Those were widespread in steppes of Semirechye, Central and East Kazakhstan, in the Turkic period. Monument found in the village Lepsinsk, refers to the 6-8 centuries A.D. And in 1991, in Lepsinsk, they found the boundary stone. During the Golden Orda times, such boundary stones were used to mark the borders of nomad territories. The tourists can visit the school museum. They can see there many showpieces about the village history, its life and nice people who live in this beautiful and unique place.
